Digital Membership card and more
At the end of January, you should have received an invitation to download a digital membership card. This is part of the ongoing upgrade and development to the membership system. The details on the digital card include your membership details and credentials such as RO status. Most often, the additional information can be found by pressing the 3 dots (if you have them), but there are various ways to access the additional data depending on the version of Android/ Apple software you are using. Changes to costs for SGC & FAC
The Home Office has issued a circular to vary the Licensing Fees for Shotgun and Firearms certificates, which will come into force on February 5th, 2025. Applications received by the police (and paid for) on or before February 4th, 2025, will be at the old rate. Most forces allow applications up to 4 months before renewal is due. Fighting the Lead Ban
Many of you will have seen the recent HSE proposals outlining the restriction of lead ammunition. While the intention to address environmental concerns is understood and supported, the proposed measures present substantial challenges to our sport and for the shooting community generally. If they become Law it will have wide-reaching effects on target shooting, particularly for shotgun. . In summary the HSE proposes: Indoor Ranges are specifically excluded from the proposals scope, as the exposure to lead indoors is controlled by the Control of Lead at Work regulations. Insurance cover extended
The NTSA is please to announce upgrades to the Insurance cover we offer to our members and affiliated clubs. The overall Public Liability and Employee Liability cover increases to £10 million. This falls in line with other major national governing bodies for shooting sports. This cover extends to all NTSA matches and events. Any target shotgun match ran by any member or affiliated club is covered, along with any member engaging in practice or training for target shotgun. Please make sure these are registered with the NTSA Competition Secretary. Full details of the of the NTSA insurance cover can be found HERE. NTSA Insurance Extended for Clubs and Members.
From 1st March, NTSA Public Liability and Employee Insurance cover will be extended. Any NTSA Affiliated club or NTSA member will be able to register a Target Shotgun match, practice or demonstration and receive insurance cover from the NTSA Insurance Policy. Bianchi competition
The Bianchi competition is a well established handgun discipline. It has now been developed to include other firearms such as Semi Auto and Lever Action Rifles. The NTSA have also taken on the discipline and run an annual Championships which combines all three ammunition types. The annual NTSA Bianchi Championships took place at North Cotes Butts in early October. The match consisted of the Practical Match, requiring 24 rounds of slug. The Buckshot match requiring 12 rounds and the Plates Match, using 24 rounds of birdshot. NTSA Club Championships 2023 – North Cotes Triumph Again!
The Club championships has been a feature of the NTSA Match Calendar for some years now. Held at the back end of the shooting year in October, it is an opportunity for NTSA affiliated Clubs to pitch their Target Shotgun skills against each other. The Championships take the individual scores from two slug competitions, T&P and Multi Target. Teams are made up of three members and their scores combined. Since the Club Championships were introduced 5 years ago the standout club to beat is North Cotes Butts, having won on four occasions, only beaten by Reepham a couple of years back. NTSA English Birdshot Championships 2023
New venue for our latest great Target Shotgun competition. The NTSA English Birdshot Championships takes place on Saturday 9th September at Cambridge Gun Club. The Championships will consist of two NTSA birdshot competitions – Standards and Speed Steels. Combined scores will determine the overall Champion.
